5) The World Bank lowered its growth forecast for developing countries during 2014 in its Global Economic Prospects (GEP) report which was released on 11 June 2014. The growth forecast was lowered from the January estimate of 5.3% to – 4.8% (However, the estimates for 2015 and 2016 displayed signs of strengthening with growth of 5.4 and 5.5%, respectively. In the report the global economy is expected to pick up speed as the year progresses and is projected to expand by 2.8% during 2014 and later strengthening to 3.4 and 3.5% in 2015 and 2016, respectively)
